Hectic day at Mn Sec. of State’s office yesterday – 275 people filed to run for public office! Lots of musical chairs and some hotly contested seats, INCLUDING record numbers of women filed for state House seats - YES!!!
2018 Primaries are 10 weeks away - August 14th.

It's WRONG to Separate Families!
The WH policy of separating children from their parents to discourage illegal travel to the US is unjustifiable and unacceptable. The ACLU says over 1,000 children have been taken from their families in the last month alone - the parents don’t know where they are, when they will see them again, or if they will accompany them should they be deported.

Americans deserve full and truthful answers to ensure that the security and sanctity of our election system is never compromised again. That can only be accomplished with a full, thorough investigation, free from interference.
Rejecting Violence, Oppression, and Murder by US Border Patrol
On May 23, US border patrol agents shot and killed an unarmed migrant. We say her name in solidarity, Claudia Patricia Gomez Gonzalez. at WMM we whole heartedly reject the oppression and violence that the border patrol engages in. We reject the words and racism that our administration has used to divide and we reject the notion of borders.

An exciting bi-partisan effort to force a series of votes on immigration policies (including DACA) in the US House needs 218 Reps to sign on. They are just a few signatures away!
Yesterday Rep Erik Paulson signed on. Now the only MN Representatives who have not yet signed on are Rep. Tom Emmer and Rep. Jason Lewis!
End of 2018 Session But There's More To Do
2018 session finished last night in a mad rush and a flurry of bills getting passed in the final hours and even minutes. The Governor now has 2 weeks to either veto these bills or sign them into law. This is the time to let the Governor know what you think of these bills.

TOMORROW leaders of 2 Latino social justice groups will meet Minneapolis City Council to discuss the Municipal ID Campaign. This is a campaign to give undocumented immigrants a form of ID they can use in their daily lives. The groups are asking for support - can you help?

Another school shooting - rally for gun control at the Capitol Sat May 19th
Another school shooting (22nd of this year), this time at Sante Fe High School, Texas. The fatalities are now up to 10. Our hearts break for yet another community traumatized by gun violence. And we are angry. We demand meaningful action on gun control NOW!
