Celebrate International Women’s Day with ERA MN on March 8

Think we have an Equal Right Amendment in place already? Think again!

We don’t have an Equal Rights Amendment in Minnesota. We don’t have one in the US. ERA Minnesota is working on it and they need our help. You can learn more by joining ERA Minnesota on International Women’s Day - March 8! It will include inspirational speakers and opportunities (in instruction) to take action!

Background on ERA

The majority of people - 76% - think we have an ERA and most- 94% - think we should. Minnesota has been active in trying to get the ERA passed since the 1970's. Our state was the 26th state to ratify the federal amendment in 1973. What many people don't realize is that not enough states nationwide ratified, so the federal amendment effort died on June 14, 1982. So now the job is two-fold:

  1. an Equal Rights Amendment added into our own Minnesota Constitution and

  2. the U.S. Senate to extend the arbitrary deadline for the Federal ERA, allowing the final 3 states to complete ratification!  Last state to ratify* was VA - Jan 15, 2020!
