Just 5 days to go until the elections! Last weekend to GOTV!
We’re into the last stretch. Lots of people have already voted and more are still to vote. Some haven’t decided yet. GOTV campaigns will be at fever-pitch this weekend. What can you do to help?
With everything that has happened this last week, the issues of white supremacy, racism, hatred and violence have been brought to the fore. We have to make it clear that this kind of behavior is not acceptable in the US. We must do this at the polls.
So, although turnout for the last midterm elections in MN was less than 50%, let’s make sure it’s different this time. Let's turn out for these midterms in HUGE numbers, and let’s get others to do the same.

Interfaith Vigil for Victims of Tree of Life Synagogue
On October 29th, close to two thousand people, from all faiths and non-believers, came together to honor and mourn the lives that were lost at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh at the hands of a hate-filled gunman. Those of us who were in the main sanctuary watched in wonder at the ever growing crowd-unaware of all of those in overflow rooms and out on the streets surrounding Mount Zion Temple who felt compelled to join this community of love. For all of the fear and hate that events of the last week have wrought upon our country, in this sacred space we were reminded of what America looks like and what we stand for- togetherness, peace, hope and a determination to end the hate and violence.

Vote for candidates who support transgender rights
Make sure the candidates you vote for this November support transgender rights.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ proposed definition of sex would erase federal recognition of about 1.4 million Americans who identify as a gender other than the one they were assigned at birth.
Trans rights are human rights. Protect trans rights. Protect trans lives.

1 bar, 2 hours, 50 people = 15,000 voters contacted by text and 600plus cards written! Great GOTV results, folks. Thanks for coming out and working so darn hard. You were phenomenal. And it was fun!
Takeaway: Text banking is a REALLY good way to be in touch with people about voting. And by the end it looked like there was a new group of text bankers ready to lend a hand to some lucky election campaigns.

Speak another language? Your help is needed at polling places on Election Day!
Apply to be an Election Judge!
Our Constitution demands that every citizen have an equal voice and vote in determining the future of our families, communities, and country. EVERY citizen.
Election judges are the backbone of our democracy. Do you or someone you know speak Spanish, Somali, Arabic, Hmong or any other language? This is an opportunity to make a BIG difference. Unfortunately, some Minnesota citizens with English as a second language, and needing a little help at the polls on election day, frequently leave their polling place because no one is able to assist them.
Some Minnesota citizens have not had a positive experience with government and are very intimidated by the process. Having someone at the polling place they may recognize from their community makes it less daunting.
We need your help in recruiting people to apply as election judges; especially if they are bilingual! Email me and we will get you, or those you send our way, set up: abelladonna@commoncause.org
