Statement on the Police Killing of Justine Damond

Women’s March Minnesota would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Justine Damond.  No one should ever lose their life at the hands of those sworn to protect them. Not Justine, not Philando, not Jamar, not Cordale…and these are just a handful of local names. Women’s March Minnesota is deeply saddened by the continuing senseless shootings of friends, community members, neighbors, and people across Minnesota and the United States at the hands of the police. We’d also like to thank all those individuals and other activist groups that showed up on Sunday for the vigil and that continue to show up.

Budget bill negotiation update.  And we want “clean” bills that fully fund state services!

With just 3 days left until the end of the MN legislative session, and Republicans proposing massive tax cuts to undercut our state programs, please take a minute to call Governor Dayton to show your support for vetoes on bills that do not support clean budget bills to fully fund state services for K-12 and higher education, health & human services, state government, public safety and the environment.

Then, keep it up with quick calls to the MN Majority Leaders of the MN House & Senate to demand the same.  Remember the power we have - our voices will help to keep those programs most important to us properly funded!
