“I can get refunded for a political contribution?”
“I made a campaign contribution and got it refunded using Minnesota’s PCR program. It was easy, and I was glad to support a candidate I believe in!”
-Kris, a Minnesota voter
Ping! Another email from a candidate’s campaign requesting support.
You want to support them, but you’re trying to be really thoughtful about any spending — especially with everything being so expensive right now.
Thankfully, the State of Minnesota has a program where you can make a contribution to a Minnesota candidate you support AND be budget-conscious. Through the Minnesota’s Political Contribution Refund (PCR) program you can get refunded for the first $75 you donate to a Minnesota political party or a state candidate (Married couples can get refunded for the first $150 if they file a joint application).
Examples of Minnesota offices this would work for are:
state legislature (state House or Senate),
governor,
lieutenant governor,
attorney general,
secretary of state, and
state auditor.
Simply make the contribution, fill out a PCR application form, and the MN Department of Revenue sends you the refund.
