Dismantling Campus Rape Culture

This event is designed to bring light to and create discussion around current policies and practices that both contribute to or fight against rape culture on campus. It is intended for the University community (students, staff, faculty, and administrators), but is open to public audience members- anyone, who is involved in sexual violence in any way, are in positions to respond to it, or want to help improve the culture of, and responses to sexual violence on the U of M campus.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Interim Director of the Center for Bioethics, Susan Craddock, and will include Director of the Aurora Center, Katie Eichele, Director of the Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life, Director and Title IX Coordinator of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action, Tina Marisam, and the Associate Director of Orientation and First-Year Programs, Jennifer Porter. 

The student speakout will be hosted by MSA President, Abeer Syedah and Founder of Break the Silence, Sarah Super. 

This event is organized by faculty and staff members from the Center for Bioethics, the Institute for Advanced Study, and the department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality studies. This event has also been co-sponserd by the Program in Human Sexuality and the Deborah E. Powell Center for Women's Health. This is our 3rd event in a series on Health Violence and Injustices (other topics included police violence and healthcare providers, and refugees and asylum seekers). 

Free vegetarian lunch will be provided from Afro Deli for registered attendees.
