Dancing for Universal Healthcare

  • 19393 Brook Park Road Grasston, MN, 55030 United States (map)

Tap into history of rural community building with an old fashioned barn dance: live music, lively dancing, and a potluck supper to build community and conversation around universal healthcare.

Join friends and neighbors from across East Central Minnesota to share what healthcare means in your life, as we build community to impact what healthcare looks like in our state. No one in Minnesota should be going without health care because the premiums are too high. No one should be worried about their health or their loved ones' ability to access needed health services. No one should be limiting their job or financial opportunities because we cannot afford to stay at a job without healthcare, can't leave a job without losing healthcare, or can't grow their company because providing healthcare is a barrier.

Your healthcare story matters. Join us as we embrace this challenge and share our healthcare needs with public figures that attend - all while having FUN together as a community.

FAQs
What does my donation pay for?
Donations are accepted to defray the cost of the event: $500 for the band, $200 for an accessible porta-potty, and $200 for potluck papergoods. Any additional funds will be put toward seed money for the next barn dance.

Why a Barn Dance?
Barn dances have long been a tool of rural agency and community building. Whether to celebrate a barn raising, harvest festivals or holidays, joining together for food, music and conversation is a long-held rural tradition.

What should I bring?
Plan to bring a dish to share and lawn chairs. Dancing shoes/boots are highly recommended, along with a jacket for after the sun goes down.

Can I bring my children/grandchildren?
Absolutely! This is an all ages event and children are welcome. There will also be activities just for kids at the Barn Dance, though kids love joining in on the dancing! Please note, this is a real farm and children must be monitored at all times.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Ticketed attendees will receive the event address and driving directions. Street parking is available at the event and may include angled roadways or a modest walk to the event site. Parking is recommended on Hwy 13/Brook Park Road.

Is this event wheelchair accessible?
This is a moderately accessible event. There is a paved driveway and most of the event will be on grass, gravel or inside the barn. There is a 1-2" lip from the ground to the concrete pad in the barn. There will be an accessible porta-potty onsite. There will be a handicap accessible drop-off zone. Parking will be on the street and may include some angled shoulders on the roadway.
