Minnesota humanist and advocacy groups will gather to observe the National Day of Reason, which honors the principles of secular government and separation of religion and state that have guided our country since its founding.
The event will include a continental breakfast and speeches by humanist leaders, legislators, activists, and David Schultz, professor of political science at Hamline University.
In Minnesota, we continue to witness the intrusion of religious ideology, and the denial of scientific knowledge, in critical areas including reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, climate change, vaccinations, medical aid in dying, religious displays in public schools, and cultural diversity.
Join Humanists of Minnesota, First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, and Or Emet Minnesota Congregation For Humanistic Judaism to remind lawmakers to uphold our secular government -- without favoring one religion over another or the religious over the nonreligious, as our Constitution mandates.
