12% of all Minnesotans were in poverty and 15% of children in 2017. In the metro area, Hennepin and Ramsey Counties had a significantly higher proportion of residents of all ages living in poverty.

Minnesotans visited food shelves 3,402,077 times in 2017 – the highest number of visits in recorded history. Children represented 36.4 percent of food shelf usage in Minnesota for a total of 1,237,688 visits.

Beginning April 1st, The Anika Foundation and Black Votes Matter MN will collect food and clothing at our North Minneapolis location at 3900 Thomas Avenue North. Here's what's needed:

Children's clothing
Ages 5-17

Adult Professional clothing
-Men's slacks, shirts, blazers, suits, ties, socks, belts
-Women's skirts, blouses, dresses, trousers, bras

-Canned or packaged goods only. Canned fruit, vegetables, healthy snacks, bottled water & 100% fruit juices.

Monday, Wednesday or Friday
10am-1pm & 3pm-6pm
