Aug 1st - Demand Community Control of cops at Mpls city council hearing - Hosted by Twin Cities Coalition for Justice 4 Jamar (@TCC4J)
City hearing on control of the police - Let’s call for actual community control.
Join up at City Council hearing on Wednesday, August 1. Councilmember Cam Gordon’s proposal to take the control of the police out of the hands of one man (the mayor) and giving the city council some say is bring heard in a joint meeting of the public safety and intergovernmental relations committees. Councilmember Gordon’s proposal is “fine, but not good enough.” If it passes on Wednesday, it goes to the next step in the city process as Gordon tries to get it on the ballot in November. While this proposal isn’t all that's wanted, it would make things better than they are now.
Twin Cities Coalition for Justice will be presenting the July statement on this issue.
The actual hearing starts at 2:30, and there will be public comment.
