Iftar for Love: Muslims & LGTBQ Communities Breaking Bread

  • Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church 511 Groveland Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55403 United States (map)

The month of June marks two beautiful events around the world; Ramadan and the Pride. Muslims around the world celebrate the holiness of this month and their devotion to their faith and humanity while the LGTBQI community celebrates their struggles, survivals and lives. Both; marginalized and discriminated against, particularly under the current regime, sometimes exist intersectionality. Yes, LGTBQI Muslims exist. Yes, LGTBQI Muslim allies exist. We all have family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, students, teachers who are Muslim. We all have family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, students and teachers who are gay, lesbian, trans, bisexual, queer or intersex. To celebrate the lives, struggles and survivals of these two resilient communities, MN Caravan of Love is hosting a dinner where queer Muslims and their Muslim allies will bring homemade food for LGBTQI community and they all will share their stories, culture around Ramadan and the Pride and eat together as a family.
