  • Macalester College Leonard Ctr, Nystrom Hall of Fame Room 125 Snelling Avenue South Saint Paul, MN, 55105 United States (map)

Hosted by Friends for a NonViolent World

Join criminal justice educator, Minneapolis NAACP president and "advocate for racial and social justice" Jason Sole in a conversation about transparency and accountability in policing.

In recent local and national news stories there has been discussion about the fundamental importance of transparency and accountability in policing to create public trust.
Tools that have been used include to create transparency and accountability include:
• body cams and squad cams,
• civilian review boards,
• independent investigations of all officer-involved shootings,
• access to policing statistics,
• tracking police stops and encounters by race,
• removing barriers to reporting police misconduct.
Are there examples of these things making a difference? What is required for these things to be adopted?
