We mourn the death of Alex Pretti and we wait to exhale
Our great success of the ICE Out General Strike was met Saturday January 24 with federal agents attacking and shooting Alex Pretti. He was a helper, a nurse for the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, an American, a Minnesotan. He was in the Whittier Neighborhood of Minneapolis amidst ICE activity. He was filming. You can see from the videos that he is helping a woman when the federal agents jump on him and kill him. Our heart goes out to his family, his community and our own community.
The commotion in the area when he died was led by the chaos of ICE. Minnesotans started showing up, despite apparent tear-gassing and other violent attempts of intimidation. It went on all day and into the night. Sunday there was rally and march downtown Minneapolis. These are the first pages of a new chapter.
