No Kings Twin Cities After Party at the Hook and Ladder: Carnival Games, Music, Puppets
Despite dealing with their own financial issues, the Hook and Ladder in Minneapolis invited No Kings organizers (Women’s March MN, Indivisible Twin Cities, MN 50501, and AFL-CIO of Minnesota) to host a fundraiser and celebration after the march on October 18 at their venue. Like the march, it was a joyful, community-building event. The event was part carnival, part show, and part party.
There were carnival games with amazing prizes from generous local donors, plus a Dunk Trump Tank, which was a HUGE hit. (Special nods to the “King Trump” stand-ins who made quite the splash on a crisp October evening.) There were zines to color, Plinko, punk rock cake walk, Epstein posters to redecorate, and for entertainment, Paul McCloskey led the resistance singalong, the No Kings Puppeteers and HONK performed an unforgettable show, and Favourite Girl rocked us out.
Many thanks to the local businesses and organizations that donated prizes (big and small!) for our game winners and participants! Here’s a sampling of our generous donors for whom we are very grateful: ACLU MN, Big Hill Books, Corazon Minneapolis, Homebody MN, Dan Leary, Loons Coffee, Minnesota Music Resistance, Mischief Toy Store, Montgomery Orchard, Panchos Taqueria, Penzey’s Spices, The Wine Company, Katy Vernon, The Hook & Ladder, Indivisible Twin Cities, MN 50501, MN AFL-CIO, and Women’s March Minnesota.
Thanks to everyone who joined us, we hope you had a fantastic time!
