Happy “9 to 5” aka 9/25! Five ways to celebrate by being more like Dolly today!
Dolly Parton was one of the most successful country music performers in history, but she was so much more. The world was devastated at her death on August 21, 2026. We want to invite people to turn that devastation into action that would make Dolly proud and leave a living legacy. Or borrowing from her own song titles – Don’t be a DUMB BLOND, remember NOBODY BUT YOU can CREATE A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE. We have a few Dolly ideas below.
I Will Always Love You – enough to keep you healthy. Did you know that Parton donated $1 million to coronavirus research at Vanderbilt University, which helped fund Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine? You can do your part to keep us all healthy by supporting reproductive rights with a donation (or by volunteering with) Abortion Access Front.
Coat of Many Colors. Winter is coming. Consider donating gently used winter items, or if you’re in a position, buy some new to donate. Look for someplace in or near your community. You could start with schools, shelters or domestic abuse service centers.
Two Doors Down – we’re trying to support our neighbors. Monarca trained more than 50,000 Minnesotans as neighborhood observers to help protect people’s rights where it matters most—on the ground, in our communities. Learn more about their training and how you can get involved.
The Wish Book could become The Book of Life with a little help. Parton’s Imagination Library has gifted more than 304 million books since its 1995 launch. Follow in Dolly’s footsteps and donate books to your local library, school or set up a Free Little Library.
The 19th Amendment is only valuable when we vote. Dolly wrote the 19th Amendment (Women’s Right to Vote) as part of a project by WNYC Studios’ More Perfect podcast that commissioned artists to write original songs inspired by each of the U.S. Constitution’s 27 amendments.
